The End of an Era - Goodbye, Windows XP

On April 8, 2014, support and updates for Windows XP will no longer be available. Do not let your PC become vulnerable to security threats and viruses

Windows XP has been supported by Microsoft for the past 12 years. They will be now investing their resources towards supporting more recent technologies.
As a result, after April 8, 2014, technical assistance for Windows XP will no longer be available, including Windows updates that help protect your PC. Microsoft will also stop providing their free anti-virus Microsoft Security Essentials for download on Windows XP on this date.
If you continue to use Windows XP after support ends, your computer will still work but it might become more vulnerable to security risks and viruses. Also, as more software and hardware manufacturers continue to optimize for more recent versions of Windows, you can expect to encounter greater numbers of apps, programs and devices that do not work with Windows XP.
To stay protected after support ends, you have two options:

Upgrade your current PC
Very few older computers will be able to run newer versions of Windows, like Windows 7 and 8, so this is probably not the best solution.
Get a new PC
This might just be the excuse you have been waiting for to get a new computer. Be sure to ask us about your options and our recommendations. They’ll be faster, lighter and more powerful than your current PC, and with an average price that's significantly less expensive than the average PC was 10 years ago.

How do I move all my Windows XP stuff to a new PC?

We can also transfer all of your files, settings, emails and user profiles from your Windows XP PC to your new Windows laptop, desktop, or tablet for you.

How protected is your computer system?

We have seen perfectly good computer systems fail. Recently during the heat wave in Drysdale, a client experienced a power brown-out which killed the computer. There is no substitute for properly protected systems.

Our recommendation is for all computers that hold important data and information, to be protected with an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). This will give you enough time to shut the system down cleanly without loss or corruption of important data.  UPS’s start from $145.00 Ex GST

Furthermore, have you checked your backups recently? The only way to know that they are working is to do a test restore and check the data. The best form of backup for small businesses is to have an image backup that can totally restore your whole computer system (including: data, eMails, software and Windows). These systems can be implemented to run on a regular schedule and are great insurance against system failure or corruption. Good quality backup software only costs. $79.00 Ex GST
